On Friday April 22nd, 2011 The Kennett Fire Company No. 1 was dispatched to the intersection of State Street and Mill Road in Kennett Square Borough for a reported dumpster fire. Deputy 24 responded and arrived on scene to find a pile of trash well off. The trash had been dumped out of a trash truck when the fire started. Engine 24-1 responded an arrived on scene. The Engine 24-1 crew pulled a 2" attack line and knocked down the bulk of the fire. Engine 24-6 arrived on scene and hooked into Engine 24-1 to supply more water. Engine 25-1 stood-by at Station 24 until crews cleared the scene. 24 units were in service for approximately 45 minutes. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Chester County Fire Marshal's Office.
