At 0015 hours on Thursday May 28tn, 2010 The Kennett Fire Company was dispatched to the 400 Block of W. Mulberry Street in Kennett Square Borough for a smoke investigation outside. The Kennett Square Police Department arrived in the area and reported a heavy smoke condition. Assistant 24A arrived on scene with fire through the roof, upgrading the assignment to a working building fire in the 400 Block of W. Cedar Street. Chief 24 arrived on scene and assumed Cedar Street Command. The Chester County Hazmat Team was added to the assignment as a precaution. Ladder Trucks from 22, 25, 53, and New Castle Co. Tower 19 for ladder pipe operations. Crews battled the blaze from all sides of the building with master streams in service. The fire was placed under control in a little over an hour. Kennett crews returned to the scene the next day to cool down hot spots with class A foam.
